Farm Schedule 2012
January Trees - Bought 30 Leyland Cypress trees that have been growng at the nursery for a year so they were 6 feet or so Febuary BEES - Ordered 1 Package of Bees March Grapes - Pruned the Grapes April Trees - Planted the 30 Leyland Cypresses. Weed Control - Weedeated the Lavender and mowed Pruned - Tall Leyland Cypresses along Property May June July Early July - Betty's Blue Lavender Bloomed July 30 - Grosso Lavender is blooming Bees are making lots of Lavender & Thistle Honey - Lots of new brood all through July Still Mowing Italian Plums Ripe August Picked and distilled all of the lavender..Lots of Essential Oil & Hydrosol Pulled a super of Honey (going to wait until there si more to extract) September Put up Deer string to protect the Cyprus trees Picked the Plums Apples are looking huge Bees are putting away honey but it is slowing down Started feeding bees Picked and dried the Willamette and Chinook Hops October November December

January Lavender - Cut and shaped all of the lavender Trees - Bought 12 Blue Junipers and 20 Leyland Cypress Febuary FRUIT TREES - {Pruned all fruit trees} BEES - Ordered 2 more Packages of Bees March April May June August BEES - Requeened - 1 Hive fought it out and the new queen won - another hive made their own queen and is doing great. September BEES - HARVESTED HONEY- {I only got a half super of honey...strange} DEER PROTECTION - Put up electric fence wire to protect against deer damage APPLES - Picked apples but their seems top be very few this year - I still have another tree to pick WHich I will do at the end of the month. October Cut Half of the Lavender (this is doing better in 2012 than the stuff I cut in December) November December Cut the other half of the Lavender (This delayed thegrowing in th espring of 2012)

January FRUIT TREES - {Pruned all fruit trees} Febuary March April May BEES - Requeened on May 15th LAVENDER - {Mowed & Weeded lavender and trimmed a few plants but not all of them - Starting to send up flowers May 10th} GRAPES - {Mowed and weeded the Grapes} The leaves are on the trees and there looks to be a lot of Asian Pears and plums!!! June August September October November December

January Febuary March FRUIT TREES - {Pruned all fruit trees} April HOPS - {Bought/planted Hop Rhizomes, cleared away dead vines from last year} GRAPES - {Bought Grapes (3306 rootstock)} BEES - {Still feeding but switched to 1:1 ratio} May BEES - {Stopped feeding the bees - Added two more 3 lb packages of Italian bees to replace two hives} LAVENDER - {Weeded lavender and trimmed a few plants but not all of them} GRAPES - {Planted the grapes} The leaves are on the trees!!! June August Harvested 3 lbs of Light Honey (Blackberry/Fireweed) September Labor Day - Cut the last of the Lavender (Only good for bee smoke) Picked a lot of Plums Kept a light water spray in the Orchard Picked the Hops October APPLES - Picked the apples over the month and kept them in bags for a month before milling them into cider. November APPLES - Made cider on the 2nd. They sat for a month and some of them were slightly soft but the cider was sweet and did not seem to oxidize brown but stayed close to the color it was when it was pressed. Most of the cider came for the Golden Delicious apples. December

January Febuary March FRUIT TREES - {Pruned all fruit trees} HOPS - {Bought/planted Hop Rhizomes} April GRAPES - {Transplanted Concord Grapes into containers} BEES - {Bought Italian Honeybees and installed April 18 - snowed!} May June LAVENDER - { Folgate was the first to bloom in the 3rd week} July LAVENDER - {July 13th the Lavender was in full bloom - July 27th Cutting and hanging} August LAVENDER - { Still cutting and drying} September LAVENDER - {September 21 cut the last of the lavender} October APPLES - {Picked and stored the apples in containers for 3 weeks while in Tokyo, Pressed the apples and made Cider on the 25th} November December
